In 2020, we donated more than $287,000 to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund in support of those affected by COVID-19 across Chicagoland. And it’s all thanks to you — our agents, loan officers and title teams, who are working together to give our clients the best real estate experience and help our communities in need.
A Letter From The Scholarship Winner
This past spring, our partners at the UIC Law Fair Housing Legal Clinic awarded the John Baird Scholarship to its second annual recipient. The student sent the following letter to the Baird family to express their gratitude for the scholarship and how it has impacted their ability to pursue work with the legal clinic. We’re delighted to see the scholarship is already making an impact and will continue to help support future fair housing advocates for years to come.
“Dear Baird Family,
I am deeply honored and grateful at being chosen to receive the John Baird Scholarship for the Fall 2022 semester.
I am currently in my third year of law school at UIC Law. My interest in fair housing rights stems from the fact that in my youth, members of my own family experienced great difficulty in securing housing due to their immigration status. When I entered law school, I heard about the great legacy at the UIC Fair Housing Clinic program had created in their fight to end housing discrimination and I wanted to be part of that fight. Participating in the Clinic was one of the most educational and gratifying experiences of my law school career because I knew that my work helped people who desperately needed it.
After graduation, I hope to pursue a legal career in which I can continue to help individuals whose fair housing rights have been violated. Thanks to your very generous support, I can continue my studies and am now one step closer to achieving my goal.
